Where to Ride In Kapaa

There are So Many Options - Kapaa Shoreline Bike Path is a Favorite

Kapaa Shoreline Bike Path

The Kapaa Shoreline Bike Trail is a spectacular coastal path that runs from Lydgate Park, thru Kapaa along the coast, all the way up to Ahihi Point.  This is a 15+ mile (out & back) ride that provides spectacular ocean vistas and access to beaches, parks, communities, restaurants and shopping. It is the longest bike path on the island and is the first completed phase of a major bike path project to connect most of the island from north shore all the way to Lihue and eventually to PoiPu in the future.  It is one of the most beautiful bike path in the Hawaiian Islands.  It is also known by it's Hawaiian name  "Ke Ala Hele Makalae" which literally means "The Path that Goes by the Coast." EZ Bikes USA is located right on the bike path that connects south to Lydgate Park so getting onto the path from our rental shop in the Coconut Marketplace is easy.

Bike to a Secluded Beach for a Picnic

The Kapaa Shoreline Trail leads to Paliku Beach sometimes referred to as "Donkey Beach." This is a beautiful secluded beach and a wonderful place for a picnic. After locking you E-bikes, take one of the short trails down from the bike path to the beach below.  There are lots of trees near the sand to provide a shady picnic spot.  Be sure to take photos, often you will be the only ones on the beach that day. EZ Bikes can provide you with a storage pack that fits on your bike to bring along a picnic or other beach items.

Around Town

EZ Bikes is located in the Coconut Market Place and connects to the Shoreline Bike path and to Aleka Loop Road.  It's easy to take the bike path into town for some shopping, or to restaurants, a spa or a live music venue for entertainment.  In fact getting around town in Kapaa is easier on a bike than in a car!

Kapaa Shoreline Bike Path is Expanding

The Shoreline Bike path is a multi use trail enjoyed by bikes, and pedestrians and "reiki" (kids) alike, so please be aware of others as you ride and share "Aloha.".  Kapaa enjoys the benefits of being the first completed phase of a larger project that will eventually connect most of the island shoreline in the future. There are two places in town that require a short detour onto the main road for a couple blocks. But a new bike "bridge" just being completed, offers easy access thru town.  Turn right (toward the beach) from the highway on Ala Road to re-connect to the bike path going north.  For more information on the expanding bike path click here.
